MCU motor-controller family
The official MCU page describes motor control under VCU commands and three controller categories. It is a functional family description; a selected hardware and interface specification is required.
Three modes do not define one hardware variant
The source says the driver controls the motor in speed, torque or mixed mode according to the operating task. The VCU combines handles/buttons with machine logic to command it. It separately names main-motor, multiple-motor and industrial controller categories. [1]
| Mode described | Question for the actual interface |
|---|---|
| Speed | Command units/range, feedback, limits and response for the intended machine function |
| Torque | Command units/range, torque sign/direction, speed limits and actual motor map |
| Mixed | Selection/blending logic, priority, transitions and defined fallback state |
These rows are questions to resolve, not a claim that the public page specifies every listed behaviour. MCU is a catalogue function label here, not an order code from which voltage/current or communication protocol can be decoded.
Match the motor, supply and thermal conditions
- Motor definition
- Type, full identity, winding/rating data and feedback sensors
- Electrical envelope
- DC range, continuous/peak limits and their duration/conditions
- Thermal installation
- Cooling arrangement, inlet/environment conditions, mounting and derating
- Physical integration
- Envelope, connector/pinout, harness and required environmental tests
The MCU page does not establish numerical limits, IP rating, a motor type or a protocol for one variant. Request a controlled datasheet and drawing for the proposed hardware. Do not import ratings from a similar enclosure.
Hixee’s wider system offer includes battery/grid states, charging and harness work. [2] Agree which states the selected MCU must operate through, who specifies power protection, and which equipment is supplied. A PDU may integrate DCDC or some battery-management functions depending on architecture; none is automatically part of an MCU order. [3]
Make the VCU-to-MCU interface a reviewable document
| Interface area | Documented result to obtain |
|---|---|
| Commands and feedback | Signal names, units/scaling, ranges, timing and actual network/wiring definition |
| Enable, start and stop | State transitions, allowed commands and required feedback/interlocks |
| Mode/direction changes | Supported selection rules, limits and transition conditions |
| Communication/power interruption | Timeout behaviour, fault indication, safe response and restart responsibility |
| Diagnostics/configuration | Supported access tools, parameter ownership, versions and change approval |
A speed/torque mode is an operating function, not proof of a certified safety function. For applicable earth-moving machinery, ISO 19014-1:2026 discusses safety-related control performance and scope exclusions; it does not approve this controller or automatically apply to earlier machines. [4] The machine integrator must agree the actual assessment and validation scope, including separate electrical hazards.
Deliver a supported hardware/software combination
- Freeze the configuration. Record controller/motor identities, hardware/firmware, parameter file, interface version and actual supplied harness/accessories.
- Review the bench/interface evidence. Test the required points and transitions, declared limits and agreed fault cases under stated conditions; retain results tied to that configuration.
- Validate the actual machine. Agree operating states, installation/environment, controls and fault response with competent responsibility. Component checks are not full-machine acceptance.
- Define support and changes. Obtain installation/diagnostic documents, permissions, supported versions, replacement compatibility and approval for updates.
Does “MCU” imply autonomous machine control?
No. The source describes the motor controller operating under a VCU. Hixee’s drilling automation is a separate system scope.
Can the family page establish continuous output power?
No specific hardware envelope or cooling/duty basis is given. Obtain the selected variant’s documentation and test basis.
